Unless you have very small feet, It is difficult to find geta to fit western foot sizes, so we now offer custom made geta for our customers!
Geta are a form of Japanese footwear that resembles both clogs and flip-flops. They are a kind of sandal with an elevated wooden base held onto the foot with a fabric thong. They are worn with traditional Japanese clothing such as kimono or yukata. Sushi chefs and other artisans would often wear geta to keep their feet above the scraps on the workroom floor. Geta are excellent in keeping the feet dry when in rain or snow, due to their extra height and impermeability compared to other shoes.
Each of our geta is made entirely out of a single piece of wood, as is traditional, but built specfically for your own foot! The soft cotton straps are adjustable by moving the knots on the back of each strap, and can be trimmed if needed.
Geta are custom made to your own foot size, so when ordering geta, please indicate the the length of your foot (from tip of big toe to heel) in the options below. Geta are available in natural or dark or can be left unfinished for your own customization.
Probably the first use of bamboo was as a drinking vessel, as its tubular form was naturally suited to the task. Our bamboo cups are lightly sanded and finished inside and out to leave as much of its oragnic nature intact. No two cups are alike as the natural variations in the grain and hue gives each a unique beauty.
They come in three sizes, the smaller size holds about 2 oz and is better suited for shots, sake, or other small-serving drinks. The larger sizes hold about 5 oz and 8oz and are good sizes for tea, water, or whatever else you please. See the "Bamboo care" section below for care instructions.
